Emergency: Postponed the Spring semester start date to March 2nd due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

Dear international students,

This is a formal notification to inform you that the National Taiwan Ocean University has postponed the Spring semester start date to March 2nd due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Please be noted that as the coronavirus outbreak is ongoing in China, the Taiwan government has imposed restriction on travelers flying in from Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. For all students who are returning to Taiwan, please follow the instructions from the Taiwan Central Epidemic Commend Center (CECC) when arrive at the airport (please see the attachment: CECC guideline). If you have a transit or transfer flight in Hong Kong, Macau, or mainland China, on arrival at NTOU campus please inform the OIA and conduct home quarantine for at least 14 days. The OIA will provide the guidelines for home quarantine.

As the novel coronavirus might cause asymptomatic infection, home quarantine helps to protect our students and our community by minimizing the potential risk of infection into our campus. Your cooperation on this matter is most appreciated.

With the new development of the coronavirus outbreak, more information will be available to you from the OIA in the coming weeks. If you have further questions regarding the event, please contact OIA and we will provide our best assistance.

Wish you all good health!
